Define start, priority, ownership, escalation, and quality so a sales SLA organizes service instead of measuring speed without context.
Define the event and clock unambiguously
The SLA can begin when a valid lead enters the system, not when someone opens an email. It should specify the time zone, business hours, included channels, duplicates, spam, and minimum data. It also defines what counts as a response: an automatic acknowledgment may confirm receipt without necessarily meeting the commercial goal. The definition is documented alongside the source recording each timestamp.
A sales SLA should not be a universal promise to respond quickly. It must state when the clock starts, what event stops it, which hours and segments apply, who is responsible and the minimum quality required of the first response. Speed creates value only when it leads to a relevant next step.
Segment by intent, value, and urgency
A support request, a content download, and a dated quote request do not need the same journey. Rules consider intent, market, product, account, stage, and urgency signals without turning a score into absolute truth. Each segment receives an owner, deadline, and next action. Segmentation must be understandable to sales and reviewed when available capacity changes.
Design alerts and escalation before a breach
The system warns when a case approaches its limit, reassigns it if the owner is absent, and escalates critical accounts according to rules. The manager sees the queue, age, capacity, and reasons, not just a red list after deadlines have passed. There is also a contingency path for integration failures. An SLA without an operating mechanism is an expectation nobody can consistently meet.
Measure quality and progress alongside speed
First-response time is read alongside successful contact, meetings, stage progression, correct disqualification, reopening and satisfaction. A fast, irrelevant message can worsen the experience. Analysis separates channel, market, segment and time of day, ending in decisions on capacity, automation or training. Wiwo.Talk can execute the journey and Wiwo.MetriQ connect service with results.
