The CMO needs to decide what to stop doing: how Wiwo.MetriQ can help

A report about what to stop should connect each activity to a business question, available evidence and the consequences of maintaining a poor decision. Wiwo.MetriQ can gather results and content from configured areas. Prioritisation belongs to the team: a few well-explained signals often contribute more than an exhaustive indicator list with no associated decision.

Stopping an activity also needs a reason that can be reviewed.

Explain the decision leadership needs to make

When every activity enters the meeting as indispensable, the report merely confirms that everyone is busy. Start with the decision: retain a frequency, adjust a format, investigate a channel or stop work no longer answering a need. This establishes what evidence would matter for each alternative.

Do not automatically classify activities as good or bad. A small piece may resolve an important commercial question, while a visible one serves another purpose. Comparison must recognise those tasks. If the objective was never clear, state that before evaluating performance as though the team had received a precise assignment.

Distinguish weak evidence from a poor result

An activity may look weak because information is insufficient to understand it. Another may have clear evidence that it failed its assignment. The first calls for deciding whether more evidence is worth obtaining; the second supports discussing change. Mixing them can cancel work whose contribution is not yet observable.

Use language preserving this distinction. Insufficient evidence is useful when you explain what is missing and why it matters. Do not treat a source’s silence as zero or demand sales translation for every result when the activity answered another question.

Connect activity to purpose without invented attribution

AMEC links communication evaluation to objectives and outcomes beyond recording activity. Apply that principle to why work is produced and which change it aimed to support. It does not mean every post must independently prove business growth or that everything can be attributed precisely.

Imagine explanations for a complicated service stage. Before stopping them because they do not lead interaction counts, ask whether sales still needs them and which questions they resolve. If nobody can explain their use, discuss that disconnect rather than manufacturing a metric to justify continued publishing.

From a finding to a decision you can explain.

Keep the connection between evidence and the proposed action.

Describe what happened and what information makes it verifiable.

Organise a bounded reading with MetriQ

Wiwo.MetriQ supports information review across social, advertising, press, creators and service, according to enabled sources and modules. It includes period comparison and preparing dashboards or exports. Choose material answering the committee’s decision and confirm coverage. Bringing areas together does not automatically make every indicator comparable.

An activity card may contain purpose, observed evidence, limitations, proposed alternative and decision owner. The main report shows essentials while authorised people retain access to support. Rigour does not require projecting every capture, but someone should be able to reconstruct the recommendation’s basis.

Consider what stopping would remove

Before recommending a pause, ask which dependency the activity creates. It may feed a channel, answer an enquiry or maintain information another area uses. A low performance figure does not establish that dependency’s worthlessness. Understand it before choosing format, frequency or another way to fulfil the task.

Ask which capacity the decision could release and who could use it. Do not invent saved hours or economic benefits without evidence. Explain which work would cease and which priority could receive attention. The CMO needs practical consequences, not a decorative productivity promise.

Agree when to reconsider

A pause can be reversible. Define circumstances justifying review: a new commercial need, further information or a different format opportunity. Stopping then need not become a final judgement on the team’s talent. Discussion concerns the work and its relationship to current priorities.

At the next close, check whether the decision created room for the agreed priority and whether unexpected effects appeared. MetriQ can provide evidence from configured areas; interpretation requires the people using the work. Useful reporting leaves explicit decisions, owners and questions for the next review.

Frequently asked questions

Should everything without measurable sales be stopped?

No. Review purpose first and identify appropriate evidence. An informational or service need may matter without supporting direct revenue attribution.

Does Wiwo.MetriQ decide which activities to cancel?

MetriQ organises information and supports analysis. Continuing, adjusting or stopping work is a decision for marketing owners, with their priorities and business context.
